i like clown gobies or watchman. also i think it would be cool to do a gobie pistol shrimp combo would be so cool and is going to be something i do in the future.

I have seen at least two (2) types of watchman gobies, the diamond watchman goby and tiger watchman goby. Most of the recommendations are for 50 gallon tanks and larger. Would either of these gobies be recommended for my tank given that it is 14 gallon?
Due to previously received information, I am going to limit my tank to three (3) fish. Additionally, I like the pistol shrimp as well, and the goby/pistol shrimp combo is something i definately want to add to my tank.

Personaly, i think a 14 gallon is suitable for a watchamn and shrimp combo as they are not a very active swimmer around all the tank..

I replied to the PM about the goby but I'll do it here as well. If you want the sandsifting gobies for a 14g I'd look at the fuse and speckled gobies. The watchman and pistol goby being recommend is a great plan as well.
I would definitely do the 2 clowns at the same time, get them both small. I'd not do a reef lobster in the nano but I do love cleaner shrimp if you are going with one of the sand sifting gobies.
On the order of fish and inverts to put in I think everyone is right actually. I prefer adding some of your clean up crew first (snails, hermits if you're going that route). Then fish next (at least the passive ones if a bigger tank). And then the more complex inverts.

After noticing an increase in ammonia from the shrimp in the panty hoes trick, I conducted a water test today and my SW parameter indicated 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, and 8.4 Ph.
Since there is a little bit of detritus accumulating on the bottom, I figured I would add two (2) Blue Leg Hermits. After acclimating for (2) hours, I added the Blue Leg Hermits. They seem to be doing fine and climbed directly to the top of the live rock and started eating. My tank has been cycling for a little over two weeks; do you feel as though this was the right time to add the Blue Hermits?
Additionally, given that my SW parameters have neutralized; do you feel as though I will be able to add more live stock, such as a pistol shrimp and emerald crab, in about two weeks?

I'd have waited. Not sure what your ammonia ever climbed to, looking back the only number I found was .50
Corals, Mushrooms, Sponges, Polyps, Leathers???
In about two weeks, I am going back to my LFS to purchase some corals. I live in Miami, Florida and there is a LFS called Big Al's, which is supposed to have a good reputation. Should corals be purchased either online or LFS?
Since I am a beginner with a Biocube 14g, I was hoping I could get some opinions about what type of corals to add to my tank. I want to get a combination of corals, but I do not want to overcrowd the tank. I would like to get corals that are hardy.
If you do recommend certain corals, will you guys indicate the diet for the corals. I am having a difficult time figuring out which corals consume food and which ones are photosynthetic.

Miami has a reef club as most metro areas do. I'd personally get in touch with it and ask the locals if they have a frag swap coming up. No better place to get some starter and even advanced stuff. They'll also give you recommendations on where else besides the obvious that you can buy corals and other goods locally and perhaps have discounts available with a club membership.

I am purchasing some Blue Button Polyps and maybe a Pistol Shrimp today; how do I assclimate the Button Polyps. Additionally, I have gotten some contrasting information concerning crabs and fish; some say to perform a quick FW dip and others state not to FW dip. Is the fresh water dip necessary for acclimation? If so, what point in the acclimation process do you perform the FW dip?
