Apparantly the seed was rattling around in the archeologists' desk drawer and a cohort asked if he could give it to a agronomonist freind who had success with old viable seeds in the past.
Yeah I have! Actually I have one about a quarry in France that swore that they cracked open some of the marble they were mining and a Pterodactle came flopping out!
Apparently it only lived a couple minutes.
But I don't think it's true. I mean, that would be a famous story by now. And they'd have that sucker stuffed at the Louvre in Paris, don't you think?
sorry to burst your bubble, but while i dont know about 2,000 year old fruit, I do know about 4,000 year old trees- some of the HUGE trees found in california as well as some other type of weird tree in the appalatian mountains are incredibly old
see this web site or google your own
Watcher, thats funny that was one of the specific ones I was thinking of, but I couldn't remember the details!! I thought it seemed a little far fetched too, but so is fish falling from the sky and that apparently happens quite a bit :dive2:
Lobo, of all people - you with the Jesus fish should have picked up on that one. Harlock said that the seed was as old as Jesus himself, to which I replied: "Nothing is that old".
