heheh, ya. I probably should have gone even higher though, maybe 22w, because some of the higher-light plants, like ricca, didn't do so hot when I tried them out. I do have HC in there, somewhere, but it wasn't doing very well either and now the pearl weed has over-taken it.

My 2.5 is much more ghetto than that one. Its made of plastic and sort of crappy. I need to get lighting for it, but I don't know where I could find one with the same shape as the one I have. Its arched in the front a little bit, and otherwiser, pretty lame.

dang RA that's a sweet nano!

one stocking idea that not many peoiple think of is a pair of killifish. sometimes they can be hard to find (most of the really nice varieties are breeder-only), but a few weeks ago I saw some of the gold lyretails (not sure the exact species) at a petsmart, so there may be more out there if you look hard for them. they are some of the most colorful freshwater fish you'll find and a pair will actually thrive in a 2.5 gallon tank with a few easy plants like hornwort or anacharis.

supgourami ghetto's fine, plus it's free, right? PS. your fish aren't into status--they won't know it's lame.

In a worse case scenario you could light it with a CF desk lamp.

Thanks Lunchbox! I hope it will only get better as I continue to muck around in it.

supgourami, do you have a pic of the tank? It might help us work something out for you. Did it come with a lid/light? Some people do use desk lamps to light their tanks. It’s all personal preference, but I used one for a month before I bought the coralife.

If you want more info check out plantedtanks.com, they have a forum section just on planted nanos that you might like. You’ll find out quite quickly people use ALL sorts of things as nano tanks, jugs, bottles, glass bowls, some guy even took nanos to the extreme and used a bird water dish and a light bulb as a nano!

If my camera was working, I would. Once I fix it, I will. But it doesn't have any sort of top. I'm thinking on just cutting one out, but I don't know what material I should use, because I definately want a top. Just plain old see through plasitc?
