Even my most finicky bettas I raised always responded to gel foods by Hikari. They'd have brine shrimp or water fleas suspended in a nutrient-rich gel made with fish meal and wheat germ. That, live baby brines, and Hikari Betta Bio-Gold were all wonderful and kept them looking dark and lush, color-wise. I'd also treat them to tiny amounts of raw beef suspended at the end of a blunt toothpick or off the tip of my finger.
