I will now be running a fluval 304 and a fluval 205 on my 46 gallon tank. what filter media should i use in both? right now in the 304 its mostly set up for bilogical filtration using fluval bio max media. the new filter came with more bio max and carbon. should i be using carbon in a planted tank using ferts and co2? fluval also offers a polishing pad, peat granules, clear max(absorbs phosphate, nitrite and nitrate). im pretty sure i need the phosphates and nitrates for the plants though. any ideas what i should be using for the best filtration. thanks for any input

Bio max, Ehfisubstrat, ceramic noodles for bio, sponges, pot scrubbers for mech and polyfill floss for fine debris. You don't need all the other stuff unless you want to remove meds or tannins from the water. Most people don't run carbon in planted tanks instead try seachem purigen, it works really well and can be recharged.
