2 fold question about stocking and petsmart

If your local Petsmart has what you want that's fine. JD's, RD's, GT's, Texas & even salvini can be had from Petsmart. Nice fish but pretty common fare.

Jeff has fish that Petsmart will NEVER carry. If you want some very cool stuff that none of your buddies can get then Jeff's your man. I recently got a $300 order from jeff (9 fish) and I would highly recommend him. Pricey but well worth it if you are into rare and unusual stuff.

If your putting them in a 75gal you could probably only keep a pair of frontosas. They are rather peaceful cichlids but they are extremely aggressive toward each other. However they are in my opinion the best cichlid to raise. They interact with you like an oscar and grow to be giants and their color is amazing. Africans is definately the way i'd go. They seem to cope better in community tanks rather than south or central americans.

so Frontosa311 if i chose frontosa what else would i able to put in there other sorts of africans? or would i have to have target fish

jds

i would say a pair of jds would go fairly well

i was thinking of other african chiclids i dont thik the jd will tolrate the high ph.and will i be able to put 4 to 5 more smaller african in the tank an waht lake do the frontse come from

If you buy them at a young age frontosa's can hold their own with a variety of other young africans. My current tank is as follows:
120gallon
one adult frontosa
one juvenile frontosa
one male kenyi
one eletic blue hap
one red zebra
two peacocks
one gold nugget pleco

I've had an all species tank with five juvenile fronts and they get real territorial, which is expected of any cichlid, but frontosas fins are so beautiful that it sucks having a tank full with split and nipped fins. I've also kept frontosa's with a red tailed catfish. I don't recommend this, but it goes to show that certain fish that aren't typically supposed to coexist in the same tank in fact can.
I think if you start with young fish you can keep fronts with just about any other malawi or tanginikan cichlid just limit the amount of same species.

so i wont be able to have mate .of the africans. i like that blue hap so tell me a rough draft of the african tank i might get one blue hap but i want most to come from lake tangikan so give me an ideal of which would go good with the frontsas

I bought my Texas cichlid at Petsmart at maybe 2", and cost $2.99. This fish turned out to be incredible. The colors are perfect, nice greyish/white head and half its back, then jet black bars, belly and throat, with bright blue speckles everywere. Such a diffrerent fish than the Texas cichlids you see in any store. I don't think that coloration comes in until they are in a home tank, cycled properly/accordangly, and fed well, and a variety.
My girlfriend bought a speck of a salvini (like an inch) at petsmart, and now its a beautiful rainbow monster.
So, as far as petsmart, if your buying young fish, which you probably are at petsmart, just take good care of them from the get-go and they will be great.

Man, you can look that up for yourself. That's what I'm trying to tell you, that it's up to you. You got to try **** out for your own self. I'm not gonna tell you to go buy a certain amount of one fish and a certain amount of another and hope they live together. That's part of being a fish owner. You try **** that might not be the most common. Anyway, you can find enogh out by going to profiles and other links. They'll help you out more than I can.

lol i feel you homeboy i just dont want to mess up i know some african eat only veggeis and some eat meat but i guess my reserch would have found that out right!i like the construtive crtisium iam going to look for my self but the main thing is i dont want to overload my tank
