2 gal tank with 2 white clouds - now what?

The duckweed will be good cover, help process ammonia, and they'll probably nibble at the roots a bit. I'd suspect that both fish are getting some to eat--while they can be pigs, fish really need very little food to do very well. 65 is a great temp for white clouds--they have much better color around there than at higher temps, IME.

It's actually plastic duckweed, so unfortunately the fish can't eat it. I think we'll put in a little more, because the fish in our other tank like the cover and shelter from the light. I'm going to use our feeding ring from there too and see if it helps with the food.

Thanks for your help, and I really have to say again how glad I am that this place is still around. You and many others were wonderful when I set up our first tank, and it's been a great success.

Huh--I didn't know they sold plastic duckweed! Interesting. Either way, fish are seldom upset by things that offer them cover, even if they may be a little hesitant initially.

We added a few more pieces of the duckweed tonight because the shy fish seems to like to hide under it.

The tests on the water tonight showed almost no ammonia, no nitrites, and slight nitrates. I haven't seen any nitrites at all, so does this mean that the tank is cycled or almost cycled? I changed about 20% of the water last night.

Would it be a good idea to leave the tank for 2-3 days without a water change to see what happens to the parameters, and test every day?

i have a four-gallon tank and i ahve about 16 white clouds :dance2:

That sounds like a pretty cool tank, misopeenut - do you have a picture anywhere showing the fish?

I think we probably have room for another white cloud once the tank has completely cycled. I hope the little scaredy-cat one calms down after a while.

I didn't really want my son to get another tank at first because of the initial setup and hassle, but it's fun helping him out and doing the tests on the water.
