I have only one pictus cat at the moment, when I ad the other to my tank will each one need a home to hide or will they share. The tank will be a 75 gal, the old one fights with the pleco right now over hiding places.

IME They will want their own hiding places, and will bicker if there aren't enough places to hide. if you have enough hiding places they'll scare each other out now and then, but will be fine. Once they get comfy, throw a piece of fish about 1" long in there sometime. they will both grab on and play tug of war untill the food gives up.

dont they like to be in small groups?

There are some who say so, and when these fish are small they tend to be more secure and active in larger groups, but IME, once they get used to their surroundings, they really don't much care if they have a companion or not. My pictus cats always seemed fine unless a stranger walked in the room, or they were startled by something. They seemed to hate water changes, and would run around the tank in a total panic while I was disrupting their world.
They just seem to like constants more than anything.
