I would honestly limit your fish to what you have now. A firefish would work, but it sounds a bit cramped already. Yes, a clam can go in a 24 gallon tank, provided it is mature and has the appropriate lighting. The best species, though not necessarily the easiest among the clams would be T. squamosa, T. maxima, and T. crocea, since they remain much smaller than the other species (T. crocea being the smallest). Of course, if you plan on upgrading relatively soon, then you could try T. derasa, but this species still gets quite large.
You could, but if I were you, I'd get a second clown...they're way more interesting in pairs.

I'd stay clear of clams until your tank has had time to mature. Wait until 6 months so you have had adequate time to really understand the workings of your system and to troubleshoot. Clams need excellent conditions and aren't going to be forgiving of water troubles.
I have to agree with Grins here. I looked at my post and it seems it may have been worded (or interpreted) differently than I intended. I don't think I put enough emphasis on "yes it can go in a 24 gallon tank assuming it is mature and has the appropriate lighting." You need to make sure it is a well established tank before you attempt a clam. As grins said, consider 6 months as a bare minimum.
Amp covered the smaller ones in his first post. The smaller and more colorful clams tend to be the croceas and they are also the most light demanding.
