2 return pumps vs 1 return pump?

thanks :) I'm going to buy another pump. whats the arrangement for optimum flow?
Currently i have an elbow connected to the return pipe but noticed the fish poop stays at the buttom of the tank. the return pipe only creates curface agitation, should i point the return pipe downwards towards the floor of the tank?

btw here's a picture of my current return pipe.

I placed an elbow at the end so the water surface is agitated.

I'm planning to add another pump. will this setup work?

Also should i remove the elbow from the previous return pipe so the water reaches the buttom of the tank? not sure if my powerheads will be able to do that, the powerheads to be used are 600+GPH each.
main tank is 8x2.5x2.5

also will be be ok for the pipe to travel 2 feet horizontally befor going upwards? or will there be too much loss of pressure?

all circulation is is diffrent depending on your tank contents. when you decorate your tank you will have to play and practice to fined your sweet spots. no one can tell you the perfect setup. when you say power heads are you talking about pumps?? if so then the 2 feet wont change much pressure at all just vertical. might lose .1 gph or so. any more questions just let me know.

its always nice to have sum surface circulation but it depends on how you want it to look. if you are not concerned with stuff on the back of the tank i would suggest a hob or a power head. hobs are normally cheaper. if not then keep it the way it is.

no substrate??? i like the setup and BA fish but are you going to aquascape? is your tank outside? how long have you had the tank setup? what are you goals with this tank? it looks like that pump setup will work well.

thanks :) Its going to be bare buttom, that way i'll be able to easily syphon the poop .
Might add in some driftwood. but not yet sure. i'll be adding 10 clown loaches from my other tank. The tank is outdoors and its been up for about 2 weeks only, I got the filter from my other arowana tank, expecting to skip cycling my tank, but it did not work, currently have high ammonia, but today i detected .25 nitrite.
