2 year old daughter

Just bought 56 gallon (high) tank for me and my daughter. What kind of fish should I get. My daughter will be banging on glass so I don't want fish that will get spooked. Any ideas?
 
Years ago I had American cichlids that were a lot of fun. I think my daughter & wife would appreciate fish with more color and different shapes. I also had a brackish tank with a black fin shark? that was awesome.
 
for my daughter I need fish that will not get spooked easily
I'm sure my wife is all about the looks
And for me I want a fish with personality thats not super aggressive but one that will eat a guppy or insect every other week
 
Why can't the fish be "Aggressive" ? Some blue acaras would be good, they are attractive and pretty bold IME. They will tolerate different tankmates too as they are pretty docile.
 
No I don't mind them being aggressive I just don't want a monster fish that will bully every other fish. I just googled blue acaras nice looking fish what else could go with it?
 
a school of hardy schooling fish like Buenos Aires Tetras is a good option. they will generally not mess with fast moving fish. My acara is on the bottom left of my avatar picture.

People at the pet store know very little about fish and so do I.
I'm going to look for smaller.
