2 year old daughter

I would definetely forget about goldfidh. really not my personal preference. I would do central/south american cichlids. also, did you cycle the tank yet?
 
Neon rosey barbs are very smart and are very beautiful. Gold barbs too. When I had them they would chase my son from one side of the tank to the other.

If you plan on getting any snails, stay away from the gold and rosey barbs.

Yeah I cycled.
I had central/south american cichlids them years ago and personally thats what I would like to get but I don't think they are attractive enough for my wife. She has high standards LOL!!!
African are to mean I think althoug I'm not an expert only had 2 tanks in my life and none in years
 
there are some very attractive ca/sa cichids, but if your worried about mean fish, maybe they are not so good for you

I think ca/sa cichids are very attractive but I think my wife wants more of a WOW factor . By mean I just don't want something that is hell bent on harrassing every fish in the tank
 
I would recommend talking to your daughter not to bang the glass. A lot of fish will easily be spooked and if stressed, will eventually become vulnerable to diseases.
 
Yeah I definately will but I sure there will be a lot of activity in the room , running around and playing. I'm just looking for something that can handle it
