20 gal high stock

Flashy male guppies are usually over looked, but go great with your rasbora/shrimp idea. A few with their constant present would serve almost as a "centerpiece"....just an idea from a guppy lover

Thanks! I looked at the thread, and it has a few good ideas, but nothing that really jumps out at me.

My latest fish obsession has been peacock gudgeons. I was thinking that they would make for a BEAUTIFUL addition to the 6 harley's (I have 6 now, as there were 3 that came with the tank, I felt I needed to flesh out that school so I got another 3) and RCS colony.

My latest concern is that this is a 20 high, so I want to spread out my stock vertically... and right now I'm noticing the harleys spending a lot of time in the bottom 5 inches of the water column. I don't remember them doing this before when I've kept them, but that was quite some time ago.

I've decided against gouramis, and have been looking into neon dwarf rainbows or threadfin rainbows over the past week. I think that 5 dwarf neons probably would be too much, but a small group of threadfins wouldn't be too bad.

Latest idea:

2x Peacock Gudgeon
5x Threadfin Rainbows
6x Harlequin Rasboras
12x Cherry Shrimp

I don't know much about gudgeons, but they are good looking fish. I think they tend to hang out at the bottom more.

I don't know how active threadfins are, but harleys typically stay toward the top (and are good jumpers), so something out of the ordinary is making them hang out at the bottom.

Don't bother putting a number on cherry shrimp. It won't stay at that number long without a lot of work on your part.

I'm wondering if the flow from the filter is just too high for the harleys right now.. they were playing in it last week, and i may have bumped it up during this weeks WC. they're all schooling together, just in that 5in zone on the far side from the filter.

Or it's making a strange sound they don't like. My espeis run in and out of the output from my AC 70, so I would guess that flow is a non-issue.

NVM - I opened the canopy to re-plant something that came un-rooted following the WC and realized that the water level wasn't all the way up.. topped off and now they're mid-top swimming again.

I think I might stop by uncle Neds in Mass. tomorrow and see if they've got gudgeons or threadfins.
