Interested mainly in keeping Danios and possible a couple ornamental fish, Otos, Cories, that type of thing. Wondering with the Danios is it better to get a 20 gallon long or standard size?

Also with the long would it limit/change my options greatly regarding tank mates?

Thanks,
Curtis

Good question. I really don't know, but I love the 20L. I keep an extremely planted tank with neons, platties, mollies and cories. If I were to get a 20 high, I would probably go ahead with the 29 gallon but otherwise like I said the 20 long is a great tank for me and my fish and plants do great in it.

The long will be much better. Not only does it provide for more swimming distance, but it also has much more surface area, allowing for better gas exchange.

You'd definately rather overfilter than underfilter a tank. A bio-filter rated for a 30 gallon tank is still fine, as long as the current doesn't bother the fish you are going to put in it.
