I currently have a 20 gallon lake malawi mbuna tank. It is the closest thing i could get to SW fish. Well now i really want an actual SW tank. I already know a lot about FW and i know that it doesnt help much. I also realize that a 20 gallon tank is small and will not hold a lot of fish. I have a lot of tiem to set this up since i have no money what so ever. So i will be getting LR and LS obviously and really like percula clowns. I would also probably get some shrimp and hermit crabs. I would like some corals so it could be kinda like a nano reef but i dont think that is going to happen since i dont have enough money. I will definantly get 1 or two just to make it look better. I already have 2 filters and a powerhead. All i now is that i need a lot of lighting and a lot of water movement. I have a penguin 170 and an AC mini. I dotn know anything about filters so im sure these wont really do anything except add water circulation since 2 clowns probably dont produce much waste. And what i have read a protein skimmer is now even that good to have on a small tank so thats a plus since i couldnt afford one anyways. My mom doesnt want me to get a SW tank just cuz she thinks it will be like more work for her or something like that so i also need to convince her its not. I will probably put in as many fish as possible but i will definantly get a percula or 2. I almost like the flase more then the true perculas. I could get one of each but i think that they will be agresive towards each other. I also like damsels. They are cheap and hardy. But they are aggresive to and if i cant have both the clowns and a damsel it will be the clowns. Another one i like is a strawberry purple psuedochromis. And gobies and blennys are cool. I really would like to keep an anemone even though all i have heard is bad things about them. I would like to see the clowns more natural behavior. I actually like doing mantenance on my tank so laziness wont be a problem at all. I wont have teh problems that most small tanks face. So what else do i need? And can i leave my current water in the tank and add salt so i dont have to cycle it very long? Or do i have to use new water? And does any1 know where i can get liverock cheap. My dad got mad the last time i spent $70 on slate and i know htat i will have to spend over 100 on LR.
