My first tank that I started about 5 years ago. Unfortunatly all the fish have gone on to a better place, and I have gone on to a better, soon to be full of cichlids, tank.

So it was your setup, nice, those cichlids probably out grew your 20 pretty fast, What size are you considering ? and how many, type.....
They actually didn't to bad in the tank, I had 11 in total and they just seemed to stop growing when they reached a size suitable for that environment. I got them when theyw ere just young, under an inch long and they reached that size in about a year, to a year and a half and stayed there for another year, until I had to go out of town for 3 months and leave my tank care to a relative... needless to say I had no fish left when I got back home.

Ya i'm sure there growth got stunted,I counted 10, keep in mind when stocking that they will get big.....:dance2:
I am going to with 3 of my favs and get 4 of each in hopes to start breeding them. My local fish store takes livestock in and gives you store credit. This is how I hope to end up with a 155 Gallon in the next few years.

Actually acei are (relatively) among the most peaceful mbuna species around.
Demasoni, on the other hand, are very aggressive against their own kind.
One would be okay, but when keeping multiple demasoni it's best to maintain them in large numbers (10+) to avoid mass casualties (i.e, if you get only four demasoni, you'll likely end up with one).

I think the OP is describing a 155 gallon he hopes to have in the future.
That would be way too many fish in a 33 gallon.
Acei are relatively (to mbuna) very unaggressive. Demasoni are as has been said extremely aggressive.
