20 Gallon Assorted Cichlid Tank

Actually acei are (relatively) among the most peaceful mbuna species around.

Demasoni, on the other hand, are very aggressive against their own kind.

One would be okay, but when keeping multiple demasoni it's best to maintain them in large numbers (10+) to avoid mass casualties (i.e, if you get only four demasoni, you'll likely end up with one).

Acei's are considered aggressive and prefer a 70 gal. tank. They may be more or less aggressive than others but still something to consider.....http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=1829

- Select Article -Species ArticleMapsMalawi BloatMalawi BreedingCichlid Compatibility Comments:Ps. Acei feeds on algea that have grown on wood. This is a popular cichlid in the hobby because of its gentile temperament, great monomorphic colors, and its tendency to swim in the top half of the aquarium (which is unusual for mbuna).

Temperament: This describes the overall demeanor of a cichlid toward other tankmates that
are of a different species. Consider that there is variability in temperament due to various factors,
including aquarium size, tankmates of similar appearance, stocking levels, and order of introduction.
There may even be some variability among individual specimens.
Conspecific Temperament: This describes the overall demeanor of a cichlid toward other tank-
mates of the same species. Consider that there is variability in temperament due to such factors as
aquarium size, stocking levels and order of introduction. There may even be some variability among
individual specimens.
