Well good thing I was busy and not home much the last couple days. 10# Co2 tank was completely empty when I checked it. Held steady for 48+ hours...then something happened. Not sure what, but there was nothing left.

On another note I cut back the intensity of the led lights by 2/3 to help with the algae issue.

Plants and snails from a member and plants from another made a big difference in the overall appearance of this tank.

I have water lettuce, needle and narrow java ( only a small clump of narrow, petsmart buy...), a ball of java moss( too be removed and used else where when I get a chance.), and yes nana petite anubias too! Now the clover is still there, but much of it died from abuse is my best guess. The abuse came in a few forms, high light, no Co2, excess nutrients which caused an algae explosion via substrate and some dry fert dosing...maybe even the light might have had a small hand in the algae, but based on what I am seeing now, I would say not.

I have Co2, dry ferts regimen, and lights on a timer= pearling and no additional algae just yet! I have to mention, because I think I have failed to prior, I got a dump truck load of snails from a member on trade. I employed them to rid the tank of algae, so far so good.

Now that the tank is on auto pilot I cant wait for everything to start filling in so my vision can be full realized. Which means I will be able to order the dip tails and rams!!! this has been a long time coming...But like the more knowledgable/ old timers say patients is the name of the game.

Well since I broke my first choice for a bubble count/ diffuser, I was forced to use an old air stone for Co2 diffusion. Can we say bad idea? A 1/3 of my 10lbs tank is gone from having it up high enough to break through the stone into the water. It does it at such a fast pace not a lot is getting absorbed.

Enter DIY project!!!
A vortex style Co2 diffuser.
I used a plastic smooth walled bottle.
1/8 thread to 1/8 barb fitting
Aquarium silicone
Drill with 3/8th bit and a 1/4th bit
A miniature file set
Utility knife
Rio 90 power head

I will be installing this tomorrow for testing. It should be way note effective than the air stone. I just hope I selected the right size power head. Enough flow, but not so much to disturb the substrate... We will see.
