Hi
I am getting a 20 gallon long (36 x 12 x 12) planted tank with sand and am thinking of stocking it with:
10 - 15 Chili rasboras
6 julii corys
3 honey gouramis

I am also thinking of getting neon tetras instead of the rasboras since I already have some in a smaller tank and think they would enjoy an upgrade. Is this over stocked? And should I get the neons or the rasboras?

I prefer rasboras over neons any day, but if you want you could have, say, 8-10 neons instead. Neons prefer cooler temps...

BTW, 20 longs are 30 inches x 12 x 12 so a bit less room...don't get carried away, your stocking seems ok but not much more room for any other fish

Excellent wish list, if you decide to replace rasboras then I would choose the cardinals over the neons.

While cardinals are nice i would not put them in the 20 long; but there are green neon if you are worried about the condition of neon. Conversely you could look for 'wild' neon as they tend to be hearty. Personally i prefer kubotai rasbora...

Also, since this aquarium is a bit bigger than 20 gallons, could I get away with 20 rasboras, or would that be to much.
