You shouldn't have to do anything special with low-light plants anyway. Your 30watts is way more than I've got with my LED hoods. I bet those plants will perk up once the tank is settled with fish in it.

My nitrites have gone down to zero.
Re-dosed ammonia back up to 4 ppm last night.
Going to wait 24 hours to see if ammonia and nitrites are processed down to 0. Going to test that for a couple of days before I am positive that the cycle is complete.
then I will do the recommended 90% water change the night before getting fishes.
I got a case of planted tankitis! Made another order for plants!

I'm approaching a month with my 29gal and I'm still not cycled.
IMO, I don't know if it's necessary to dose up to ~4ppm once your tank is well under way. I do know doing that with my 10gal turned out to be a problem. I would think ~1ppm would be enough ammo now.

We're in the same boat about 1 month. :banghead:
I just want to check if it its used up on 24 hours because ~4ppm is what I been dosing since the beginning. After I see ammonia to nitrites to nitrates in 24 hours for a few days. I'm going to dose ~1ppm until I know when I am getting fish.

Patty, so many thanks for your documented, fishless cycle by adding ammonia. Of all the threads I poured through over the last bunch of months, yours (with the API master kit pictures) was the best and most complete I've seen. You're going to have a great tank.

Woo-hoo! Zeros again today! Going to dose up one more time. Not going to dose tomorrow. It's the day before fish arrive. Also doing at least a 90% WC tomorrow.
I think fishkeeping is one of the few things in life that we want ZEROS! Also I have notice that my pH had been stabilize since the cycle has been complete!
