20 Gallon - Paludarium Cork Scape - Build Thread

Thanks Mellow!

@fineexampl
I would imagine a fogger would work, personally I don't like them because in the past I would get hard water deposits on everything in my tank and the glass, I also have very hard water though.

Ah okay. I've only seen the external ones that use a PET bottle. I just assumed distilled or purified water would go in them.

Hey Bluntsalot,

Nice paludarium! Saw Mellow's and your set ups, and while I've got some larger tanks, I'm going to start off with a 20gal for a starter to get the hang of construction, equalizing the environment, and testing how well it turns out.

I've been eyeballing some hardware and equipment for what to use and after visiting my local serpentarium today I was considering the following:

Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 for a rainfall setup - http://www.amazon.com/Terra-Monsoon-RS400-Rainfall-System/dp/B004G62868

ZooMed Reptifogger for humidity - http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Reptile-Terrarium-Humidifier/dp/B0019IJXD2/ref=pd_rhf_cr_s_cp_6_Z6D3

It says with the Reptifogger to specifically use RO, distilled, or fresh rainwater. More than likely I'll be using distilled, but definitely do not use tap water as it's heavy in minerals and will clog your equipment and whatnot. Thoughts?

Again, kudos to you both for the mini-paludarium set ups. They seem very intimidating to craft.

Love your tank. For a very newby can you explain your reasoning behind the cork rather than using styro. Doesn't it leach into the water. I'm just starting to prepare my tank for mudskippers. Also your drip. I want a waterfall over the b ack of my tank but a lightweight flow over the whole width. How did you set up yours. Thanks Toronto from lately of Brantford.
