20 Gallon Triangle Tank

Well I will let you all know what size tank it is today hopefully. I'll e-mail her this morning and ask for a picture of it. After work (5pm Hawaii time) I will go pick it up. My wife starts her new job at Old Navy today btw. I'm so excited because we have been dirt broke lately due to the daycare being so ridiculously expensive!! I know this is off topic but I don't understand the prices for daycare on a military installation. They charge you based on rank (monthly income) and your spouses monthly income. Everytime you get promoted they charge you more and now that my wife started her job they are going to want more as well. It's like you never truly make more money. When I get promoted my BAH (basic allowance for housing) goes up but the housing office automatically checks this and takes the full amount. What's the point in making more money!! AHHHHHH!

I dont agree with the military having to pay for child care nor housing, after all your doing a job to protect the country and that should be provided for free or at a very very low cost we need to cut off money we give to hostile foreign countries and use it for the people here in this country like yourself.

But I do envy you living in hawaii its my dream to live there as soon as I win mega millions lotto :)

Rod you will need all that mega dough if you move here, especially with 75g+ tanks.

Daycare tends to be pricier than a sitter or an "Aunty". I know EOD's situation is a little different being in the military & not knowing anyone. Not sure how much you pay, but I think the basic public daycare is around $600/month... I love Stepping Stones but they start at $1100/month.

If things progress as they seem to be for me, I may be talking with you middle/end of next year about maybe taking my tanks. :p: We'll see...

I could see where a 30 gallon glass with a broken end panel could be made into a triangle without having to buy replacement glass, just by repositioning the lateral panels to a point. Viola triangle tank!

I don't know, fish tanks are one of those things that have a high retail value new with metalic confetti and fake fish on display becasue allot of customers wittingly or unwittingly have high hopes of instant gratification when real fish keeping is rally about great interest, investment and rewards. Any other reason and you have another tank at a garage sale that was once outrageously expensive after sitting empty for a year or more in someones back yard just dieing, that is where I come in :naughty:

I got the 20 gallon triangle tank which ended up being what looks like a 16-20 gallon bowfront. I cleaned it up because there was thick algae covering the entire glass panel where the light goes and algae all over the inside of the tank as well as the crusty stuff you always find along the top trim especially where the filter sits. Tell me what you think. I got it for free but I'm just unsure of it's actual size.

Oh Oh! It also had fish inside it. There was a leopard pleco (leopard or zebra...don't remember what she said), 2 large goldfish and a full size albino corydora. I donated the goldfish and pleco to the LFS and kept the corydora and put him in the 35g hex.

Also, some ideas for stocking? I've got an empty tank!! The plants and scenery you see in there now are only there to aid in the cycle.

Technically I suppose you could say a bow front is a triangle tank. Now you got me thinking of how a DIY made right-angle tank (triangle tanks) would fit so nicely in a corner in a house that is turning into one big fish-room. You hear this Rod, there is still room for more...lol

Threw in the heater and thermometer. Added feeder fish to aid in cycling.

Why not transfer some of your media from one of your established tanks? I'd move either the loaches or cories to that tank - more real estate to go around.

Well I can't move fish until I'm sure the cycle has finished but I did take some of the pillow filler out of the filter sock in the 35G and move it to the HOB on this new tank. I'm guessing that what you mean by media. Also, the fake plants and scenery are from this tank which was an established tank when I picked it up today...until I broke it down and cleaned it. (used no chemicals...just sponge and water)

i have a 33g bowfront corner tank that is shaped like a triangle (curved on the front of course).

Anyhow, nice find, can't beat a free tank, even if it took a little elbow grease to clean up. Wish I could find deals like this, I scour craigslist daily but there is a fair sized market here for fish tanks (SW mostly, but still)
