No CO2, I dose with excell 1-2x's per week, and occasionally dose with Flourish.

I'll give it a try... might be a while on the DIY CO2, 'cause I have to do some research. I'll start the ferts right away though.

ok... so I'm going to start dosing excel daily, and flourish 3x/week. Do I skip the excel on flourish days or is it okay to use both? Would a floating plant help to shade the anubias?

You can use Excel and Flourish on the same days.

You don't need to shade the plants, just improve the growing conditions and algae will become less of a problem.
