ok, happy with my 29g with my blue rams...

no working on my 20g long...

realy don't wan it to be to much work as my 29, e.g- peat to lowe ph. co2 etc.

my ph without treatment is 7.8
looking to have sand and some river rocks, no live plants.

was thinking on putting some bolivian rams but they require min. of 30g.

what kind i put in this?

I keep my bolivians in a 10g. Its a little on the low side for size, but the tank has lots of hiding places, and the male doesn't pick on the female too much at all. They're both healthy and displaying nice color. A 20g long is plenty big enough for a couple rams and dither fish.

I am also setting up a 20L that will be a "low maintenance tank". Sand and rocks only. Simple, yet natural and eye pleasing. I'm going with N. multifaciatus (Lake Tang shell dweller). Your water's perfect for them, they breed like rabbits, and allow multiple generations of fry to live in the same tank. You could keep 3 males in a 20g long (I can't wait to see the interactions between them). They're supposedly very interesting to watch.

here's an anecdotal article on the multis

Good choice mooman my girlfriend hs some real cool rift lake dwarf heres another link wildianna http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/shellweb/ They are great small tank fish beautiful too. Sincerely Curtis

I agree with Mooman. I have a 20 gallon long that I am cycling right now, and when finished is going to house a pair of Rams and a school of 6 or 7 Neon Tetra. All the research I have done says that Rams are fine in 20 fallon tanks.
