hi everyone. im new here. ive kept freshwater tanks for two years now and would like to upgrade one of my 20g 2ft tank into a micro reef.
for it i have a 50w heater(not much but it works wonderfully), a resun sp-1200 pump which i added a filter cartrige to with double outlets, and 8" airstone.

i would like to know what i need and what fish and inverts i could keep in it. also i do not plan on growing corrals just yet.

oh, just found the reef section, sorry i put it in the wrong place.

I moved it to the newbie forum for the moment, since you're starting at the beginning.

If you haven't had a look at the "Starting a Marine Aquarium..." thread at the top, you might start there.

There are many ways to do it, but here are some basics
*about 1.5-2 lbs of live rock per gallon
*pumps adequate to turn over the tank at least 10 times, preferably 15 times per hour
*for a small system, a protein skimmer, like the CPR bakpak, aquaC remora, will be a big help in keeping water quality high
*lights will be one of your biggest expenses if you want photosynthetic corals, minimum 55 watts of compact fluorescent, and increasing from there

thanx. my filter gives out 700l/h and my tank holds 60liters, does that mean it turns over 115? if so does that mean i only need the filter? its flows pretty powerful, enough to force my neons to the othe side of the tank. ill check that thread too.

ok, ive made up my mind what i want to keep following the new marine aquaria guidlines for a small tank.
either 2 clowns(percula or occeleris) and a royal gramma or a cherub angle and a royal gramma. and for inverts i want either 2 skunk cleaner shrimp and a brittle star or 2 cleaners and 2-5 feather dusters.
the equipment inclueds:
the equipment i already have
15-20 pounds live uncured rock
a small skimmer
coral sand for 2" layer and a small amount of live sand
1 light strip with actinic blue tube

also what do you feed my selected fishes?
