20G Stocking Question

Hey! I'm not new to fish keeping, but all I have ever had is just community fish. I'm ready for something new. What kind and how many Cichlids would you suggest putting in a 20 gallon tank? Also, is it possible to keep some kind of bottom feeder in there too? Thanks!!

A 20g tank is small for keeping cichlids in. Only ones that may work in it would be such cichlids as Convicts, Kribs, Rams, or shell dwellers. All other Cichlids would outgrow the tank.

I readily agree here. I have my twenty stocked with a trio of cacs, 6 Harlequin Rasboras, plus six pygmy cories.

apistos, rams, tanganyikan shellwellers will all go in that tank.

take a look at the shellies - I haeve a real soft spot for them.

If you go down that road you could have one synodontis catfish in there, as long as you give him some rockledge arrangement to lie under at the opposite end of the tank to the shells.

If you do the apistos or rams, as has been said you can have corydoras catfish. Lovely little fish too.
