210g Build Thread....

Don't worry Robbie they will figure it out on their own. They may fight they may not.. But the dominance fighting is just that, them establishing the pecking order.

BTW they look really cool, and I love the shot.

The clowns look terrific, they are always a great addition to a reef.

Just a thought but you may not have enough water flow going through your sump, I have about 300 gph going through mine and it's on a 55 gal. With a 210 gal tank you need more water flow to the sump, I have a 180 gal with two overflows rated at 700 gal each so I'm cycling 1400 gph through my sump.

Agreed....I have about 700gph going through the sump for my 55, plus two 170gph powerheads in the tank, that will soon be upgraded to Koralias. Not sure if you're planning on corals or not, but most recommend to shoot for about 20x turnover to get sufficient flow for corals.

I had wondered about that recently, after seeing what everyone else is running (much larger). I hope to one day to build or buy a larger sump, possibly with a refugium. I hope that with what I have it will suffice for awhile. So far the water parameters haven't shown any problems...I just did my first routine water change. I assume that something would show up somewhere if the filter wasn't doing it's job, right? Please tell me if I'm wrong.
As far as flow in the tank I have about 13x for 210g, or 16x for 170g (which is about how much water is in there).
I'm thinking about adding another Koralia 3 or a 4 to up the flow in the center of my tank, but I think for now it's pretty good.
Thanks!!
Robbie

The clowns are great.....I'm glad I decided to add a second one. Awfully lonely in that big ol' tank for just one, I suppose. They seem to hang out at night between my thermometer and the magnetic glass cleaner...maybe it's their substitute for an anemone? Strange.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments and taking the time read this looooong thread:D.

things are comming along nicely, as far as GPH through the sump i have dual overflows on mine i think rated for 700- or 900 idk but I was running a return pump rated for 2500, but since its down for the moment total turnover for my tank is 30.75 which isnt that bad considering its a reef, only thing kickin my but is the ATES!! Cant wait to find a cheap pump to power my down draft skimmer. Go what works.
