210g Build Thread....

At least one of my sally lightfoot crabs is still alive....it made an appearance today after a month. I have yet to see the other one. Either one of them died (I see pieces under a coral skeleton) or molted and is still in hiding.
The cyano is going away, but not as fast as I want...but it is much better than it was a week or two ago! Moving my powerheads seemed to help, and I'm not sure about the Phoslock....I assume it's doing something.
Any idea what this lime green algae (I assume) might be? It's hard as nails...could it be green coraline starting? I took a couple of smallish rocks and shells out to rinse off the cyano and the lime green stuff would not budge. I do have some good purple and green coraline on some LR in the tank.
And another picture of my clowns. They are so photogenic and fun to watch.
Thanks for looking!!

The lime green came for me just before the purple started to grow. When i read up on it a lot said yes it was coralline and was just out competed by the purple and red varieties.
Good. Finally I have some algae growing that I actually want:D
There is some red and green spreading from my new pieces of LR. Any way to tell when a piece of dead rock becomes live?
Thanks!!

great looking clowns. i like the crab its like he was saying "take a picture of me" then bam! he flashes you with his underside

Not without breaking it open really. And if the red and green are hard they are probably coraline but if soft you might have the start of cynaobacteria just as an FYI
I'm battling the red cyano now:mad:.
This stuff is rock hard and does not want to come off of anything....I think it must be the coraline.

And I haven't seen him since. I bought two of them a month ago and this was the first public appearance for either one. As soon as they hit the tank, one buried himself in the sand and the other scurried under a piece of dead coral. I assumed they both died!

The first picture is after about three days of fighting. It had actually recede at that point (I don't have a full tank shot of the beginning)....the second picture is of the worst trouble spot as of today, and the third is an overall tank shot as of today. It's much better, but the cyano seems to be concentrated in spots...mainly the center of the tank. I rearranged my powerheads to push water across the substrate, and that seemed to help a bit, but not enough. there is some on the rocks, but not too much. I also loaded my Magnum 350 with Pura Phoslock to absorb the phosphates (my tap water tested around .25ppm) and I am either going to run charcoal or more Phoslock in my other Magnum. I also added a wad of chaeto in the tank to try and choke out the stuff. The little bit of green hair algae I had is mostly gone, but this stuff is a pain! I've been sucking it out with a turkey baster when I have time. I know I need to switch to RO/DI water and will in the future.
Is it possible that this is part of the break-in period of my tank and will go away as long as I keep up with what I'm doing?
Thanks!!!
Robbie
