210g Build Thread....

Is this the one we saw before? I think Derrick joined and showed him to us?
Yup!
He tore his tank down and changed some things (new sump, bare bottom, etc.) and caught the tang when he drained the tank. He also has a nice pair of maroon clowns in the store.
I'm eyeballing a purple pseudochromis and a pearlyscale butterfly there too. But not for a while. I really want to get my sump together.
Thanks!!
Robbie

My latest additions. The hippo tang (Gilbert) came from a really nice guy at my LFS (thanks, Derrick!)...it outgrew his 75g at home so he gave it to me. He is fairly large...probably close to 5". HAH! Not all my fish are pygmies! :silly:
The half black angel (Otto) is the new guy....after a couple of days of harassment by my coral beauty, he has settled into the tank quite well. He is a little guy though.
I have a 30g tank on order along with an Ocean Runner 3500 pump so I can make a sump/refugium. I'm sure when I get it together I will need lots of questions answered about switching over from my wet/dry to the sump.
Thanks!!
Robbie

Beautiful additions robbie.. But did you QT??? hmmmmm? ;) I really like Otto. hmmm

Otto is very cool. His namesake is from "Fish Out of Water".
I did QT them.....for an hour.....in the bags.....
The tang came from Derricks tank at home, and never touched the store water, so I was not as concerned about infecting my tank as I was my tank infecting him, and in that case I guess the QT would not have done a lot of good. Also, I had no idea that he was bringing it to the store...only about three hours notice. So I held my breath....
The angel came from the same LFS (only one I buy from now) and he had been there for a month or two and was fine. They do not move many fish, unlike my other LFS that has huge shipment weekly. The other LFS also had two batfish and a powder blue tang suffering pretty badly from ick the last time I was there, so I resist the temptation to buy anything from them now. I know it is a pitiful excuse and it might come back to bite me in the @$$ one day....
Glad you like them!

Thanks! Glad you like it....you didn't read the whole thing at once did you?:)
I'm getting ready to start building my sump, so maybe I'll have something new to add here soon.

Robbie: are you going to try your hand at acrylic work? or use an aquarium? for your new sump. What size you going for?

Well, the largest thing I can slide through the doors in the stand has to have a footprint of 38x13 or less, so I found a 30g tank that is 36x12. I have a chunk of 1/4" acrylic that I'm going to use for baffles...if I recall silicone won't stick to acrylic so I have to "trap" the acrylic with beads of silicone. Hope it will work. I also have a Ocean Runner 3500 for a return pump and I'm looking for a larger HOB overflow with dual 1" bulkheads (1200 gph or so).
I hope to move my skimmer into the sump but it's going to be a tight fit. It will have to sit on the bottom of the 30g in order to be able to remove the collection cup.
And there is the plumbing....sigh.

Oh and I have my eye on another Bangai, a Longnose Butterfly, a cleaner shrimp and another Peppermint shrimp at my LFS :naughty:
