24 LED flexible strip-light

It does look much brighter and the color looks good too. Keep us posted as to whether your plants seem to be growing better

I stopped using the LED hood after 3-4 weeks because the plants didn't seem to be responding to it.

I replaced it with a glass versa-top and an Aqueon incandescent strip light fitted with two ZooMed daylight CFLs. Plants are doing better.

Those low wattage LEDs lack the power to provide much PAR. It's a shame, since they would be such a nice alternative.

+1 to that.

They are awesome for lighting up the aquascape and making the colors 'pop', however like many a fishkeeper on this site has suggested, they don't do squat for plants- even as basic as java fern.

Obviously, paying up for a higher dollar LED tank fixture intended for plant growth will yield totally different results for you.

I'm sure as time goes on, high quality, low cost, LED 'plant growth' fixtures will be the norm and T5 or CFL will be the dinosaurs.

it's fun to see an experiment yielding results. do more!
