well like i said i just recently got a 240 gallon tank and am wondering what to do with it. its cureently setup to run a fresh water tank, i am a new so i dont know much at all about fish. i was thinking maybe something aggressive but have no experience. please give me some tips and suggestions thank you

Well, in my opinion, you need to make that choice yourself. You can't let us choose for you, because it's you who's got to maintain the tank and look at it all the time.
With such a large tank of 900 liters, you can just about do anything you like.

good size tank, if you cant decide what to do with it i will take it off your hands... :thm:
if you are new to keeping fish i would recommend fresh water, but i dont know how dedicated you are to your hobbies. african cichlids are really easy to keep and are entertaining and colorful. new world cichlids would be nice in that tank... like a flowerhorn or maybe a midas or two. you could also make a mean shoal of pirahnas in that tank.
whatever you do, dont let someone talk you into something you arent going to like, get what you want!!!

Colourful and aggressive and large can be achieved by something like cichlids (which are in the freshwater catagory). If you want to run a marine tank there are many choies to make, such as reef or non-reef (partly determined by fish choice). Also a marine tank will need lots of extra goodies to run so there will be some money that will need to be spent.
I would suggest going to your local fish store and browsing the fish choices. Realizing that many are babies or young and still in need of growing find the fish you like the most in both marine and fresh. Then come back and tell us what fish you think you might like. Someone will definately be able to help steer you in the right direction.

I'd love the idea of like 40 mbuna swimming around...that or get like 15 congo tetras...either way lots of fish=fun!
