So I have noticed a lot of discussion lately on water changes..
Thought I'd show you all how I do a 25-30 gal water change on my 125 gal tank...

first pic is just the tank..

The 2nd pic shows the 2 inlet pipes bringing in fresh tap, and filtered RO water, and the plumbing. The green valve stops water from returning to the tank, and the 2 red valves are fill, and drain, the drain is on the bottom...

So I close the green valve, and open the drain valve. Now the filter pumps water from the tank into the house drain in the basement.

the last pic shows the water level down about 6 inches. 30 gallons or so..

Time to fill!

Then I refill the tank.
I can adjust thmix of R/O water, and tap with the 2 blue valves in the first pic.

Then I close the drain valve, and open the red fill valve above the drain valve, and open the green valve..

very nice

Love your tank there Zig! So what... do you unhook the "out" hose on the canister??

Funny how on the two pics it looks like the cord is hanging down to the pic under it!!!!!

No disconnecting involved, just opening and closing a few valves - that's it.. takes only a few minutes.

Funny about the cords! I just notced that myself. I was re adjusting the temp on the heaters, and tyring to re route the heater cords when I took the pic, finny how it lined up with the top pic!!

Nice, I need a set up like that =) Just last week i figured out how to hook up the end of the gravel vac to the sink for refilling....one step at a time :grinyes:
