250 gallon "fallen log" tank log

hope your using that in a well ventilated area , that smoke is toxic .

am looking forward to seeing how it turns out .

i posted a picture of the new tool. and yes, i'm doing this outside.

anyway.. i'm about halfway done as far as the shaping.. in the future i would definitely recommend just doing a simple rectangle and carving it down, as opposed to building it up from smaller pieces. it's way less work. In fact, i might start over on the main log part and do it that way. i'm waiting for the last of the silicone to dry now, and then i'm gonna finish up the shaping and hopefully get started on the cement by the end of the day, or at least tomorrow.

i really like this thing, but the boyfriend doesn't want an entirely natural looking tank.. so i'm still trying to convince him. if he ends up not wanting it, i guess i'll just sell it.

cool, looking good. One thought I had was not make it full round, make the back and bottom flat so you can kind of fit it in the back corner of the tank. Then you can get the hollow area inside for the fish, and the look, but it would take up less tank area.

not a bad idea, but i've got a lot of tank to take up.. so i was ok with it. i'm going to reevaluate and figure out where to go from here.

Cool. I was just really surprised when I went out looking for driftwood for my 150, i came back with a bunch of logs and once they were in the tank I ended up taking a few out and cutting them down. They look way bigger inside an enclosed space than in the middle of the garage floor or out in the yard.
