I am setting up a 26 Bowfront to tide me over until my 180 gets in. I am thinking about putting a pair of Ocellaris Clowns, and possibly a Bangaii Cardinal in the tank.

I have about 25-30 Lbs of live rock and a skimmer going. I am thinking about replacing the skimmer. Its a Seaclone 100, and it hasn't skimmed a thing up to this point. The live rock has been in for about 2 days, should I be getting something in the skimmer cup by now?

Would that fish list work in the 26 bow? and any suggestions for a HOB skimmer. I don't want to spend a ton as this is only a small project tank.

Thanks in advance

How long has the skimmer been set up? Just asking cause I have read that it takes days to weeks on some skimmers to get broke in. That may be why yours is not working the way it should.

I'd not expect much skimmate on a new tank, especially on a nano with rock that may have been cured. I think you could skip the skimmer, many do on a nano if they do frequent water changes.

The fish list would work for the 29. When do you get the 180?

It has only been set up for about a week. The live rock has been in for about 3-4 days.

The actual cloudiness from the sand just died down yesterday, and the water is relatively clear.

I will likely get the 180+ in September.

Thanks everyone that responded. Many sites you get no response and are stuck to learning the hard way. I really appreciate all the help!

I agree, clowns often don't appreciate newcomers.;)

Also, can you return the Seaclone by any chance? I've heard abysmal reviews of them, and I do agree that you can go without a skimmer with weekly water changes.
