I vote for a Bristlenose for your pleco. Mine was my favorite fish! Rather than skipping the barbs and serpaes (which you already have), I'd skip the glass cats. They tend to not do well with active tank mates.

Thanks. Cant the bristlenose get quite big though? In regards to the cats, I think you are right. It sounds like they are not the heartiest of fish and since this is my first tank, I want to take it easy and not bring home fish that are going to be really hard to care for.

Bristlenose will max out at 4-5".

I used to be really into glass cats, so when I set up my planted 150 I picked up a school of 17 of them. You'd barely know they were in the tank, they pick the most secluded, covered area and school and hover there. The school has dwindled over the past year and I think I'm down to only 3 or 4. I won't be replacing them. Don't get me wrong, pretty cool fish, but they don't add much to the tank.

Ok...so I am going to skip the glass cats. Now I think I am going to do:

6 Gold Barbs
6 Serpae Tetras
2 Gournamis
2 Peacock gudgeon
2 Ottos(catfish)

Does this sound a little bit better or would I still be considered overstocked? Thanks again!

Better but change your serpaes with red phantoms. Serpaes won't think twice of nipping their other tankmates particularly gouramis.

Problem is, that I already have 1 serpae and 1 gold barb in there that my son and daughter picked out and named. Can I leave him by himself or does he need to be schooled?

He'll peck others just for the sake of establishing ranks. That's the problem with tiger barbs and serpaes. They have a tendency to pick anyone when kept in fewer numbers or in small tanks.
