I told you just a minute ago... but I'll write it out anyway lol
I successfully kept a trio of red empress with my brother in a 29 gallon tank (his room, I did water changes
) and they did perfectly fine for about a year, full grown and beautiful by then... randomly one day the male went psycho and tore up the females (they survived but had to recuperate for weeks)... so just because it works for a while doesn't mean it'll work forever.
I'd look at tangs tool; a pair of julies, maybe a trio of shellies and a calvus... but you said you didn't want them so I'd suggest livebearers or maybe celebese rainbows, they do well in harder water.

With that tank size I'd personally stick to just shellies and a julidochromis pair or a similar species in their place.
I agree with the idea of a shellie colony for this tank. I would start with 8 fishes of N. brevis or N. multifasciatus species; being the last one my favorite. NO MBUNA please, there will be a war sooner or later!
I am gonna try mbunas. if it doesnt work, then it doesn't. the amount of other opinions i got saying a quad of cynotilapia would be 100% fine I'm gonna try it. I can get haters among haters and bad comments among bad comments but i will try. If all fails, you can all say "I told you so" which is fine with me. But the only you way you learn is by making mistakes.

You seemed to be determined from the beginning to do whatever you wanted. I know you were told in your last thread that it was not a good idea. Then you were told the same thing again on here. If you were going to do it anyway I don't know why you asked about it in the first place. The people here have a lot of experience and provide great information. I think it's best to look at what's best for the fish, not just what YOU want.
