this is cool, kinda. I had to rescue about 28 coral platy fry one at a time as they popped out from becoming a snack for the moms in the 10 gallon. It was a real pita but I have a few ideas to make it easier next time, like move the other 3 moms that arent currently in labor for starts.

thanks jm1212,

I think all the female platys may have all de-ploded, will be keeping them segregated for a while longer to make sure nothing else swells up.

The snails can help me clean the fry box, most of the fry are all swimming up at the top snagging bits of crushed flake... The fry in the picture were wondering what is this funny creature that landed.

Aww.....the fry are so adorable! They are so tiny. Your pictures are awesome though!

kristen, thanks! they sure are tiny, their size in perspective makes me think of them as having a zillion gallon tank even though the fry box might only actually be a quarter of a gallon.

bk828, thank you! yep it's a pond snail! I figured the snails would be no harm to the fry and the fry box was getting a little messy already.

Digital, thank you for the kind comment!

The platy fry are really scarfing down the little pinches of crushed flake occasionally placed in their 'planted' fry container. 'planted' because I put a tiny sword plant in there that was floating around the tank. the snails pick up any thing that isnt eaten right away by the fry which keeps the food from rotting since it's all consumed.

Awe cute fry...good idea with the snail in the breeder trap!!
