I bought the wood a couple of years ago simply because I liked the way it looked. I don't for sure what kind it is but it may very well be grapevine.
The crypts look good so far.
I had an algae problem a few weeks ago to the point where I was wiping the glass every couple of days. Now that I've cut the ferts by 2/3, the glass is staying cleaner.
Here's the latest pic:
Thanks. It still looks kinda empty though. The barbs hang out in a tight school in the back and the cats are well. . . see-through. So I was lucky enough to find 3 more glass cats and 4 more Cherry barbs. I've got to trim a few plants later today so I'll post a pic or 2 when I'm done.
Had a mishap today with my canister. One of the clamps wasn't tight when I plugged it in and leaked on the carpet. I didn't notice the leak until I started filling the tank to replace the water that drained into the filter and the level stayed the same. I looked down and . . . let's just say I'm glad I caught it. So, I soaked up as much water as I could, fixed the clamp, put everything back together, and topped off the tank, and all before I had to go to work. I clean the 75g tomorrow!
High nitrates! Overfeeding? Overstocked? Water changes? The one thing I didn't consider at first I checked today . . . water supply. 40ppm, that's what I'm putting in my tanks? I changed the filter cartridge on the water line and it should be good now. I'll check before I do another water change, that's for sure.
Anyway, plants still growing well all but the Amazon Sword. Stock changed a little; 9 Cherry Barbs, 7 Asian Glass Catfish, 3 False Juliis, and a few Ghost Shrimp. Tank still looks empty.
Plants still growing well but the stock has changed a little:
6 Asian Glass Catfish
6 Cherry Barbs
3 Julii Corydoras Catfish (false)
1 Albino Bristlenose Pleco
Tank still looks empty but the plants are so lush it doesn't bother me. It's a "Planted" tank so that's where the emphasis should be, right?
