29g Reeflog

Update:

Hair is still growing well, but constant care helps. Hopefully it'll start depleting as I use better water...but that's still just 'the dream'.

I did, however, move a ton of little frags over from my failing 55g. I've lost all hope for that one, honestly.

I also moved over my anemone. There's the very real risk that I'll be bringing over disease from the other tank, but it's been approx 6 weeks, and I decided my anemone was well worth the risk. He has been looking SERIOUSLY meager.

It looks a lot better than it did.. I about cried for you when I saw that one picture.. I found some long hairs growing in my tank (as the previous owner had hair algae worse than yours. You couldn't even see into his tank).. And I am still afraid that I will experience the same problem even with all of my efforts. I spent almost a week combing every pet store within 100 miles of my house (luckily through work, I travel a lot as I work with fiber optic cable for a living) and finally found a store with 20 Cerith Snails that have literally been devouring whatever it is in my tank..

Yeah, Cerith Snails are awesome like that. ;)

Today I added about 10 frags from my other tank, which are incidentally about 1/10th the size they were when i got them and stuck them in the 55g.

I learned so much of 'what not to do' with my first tank. Hopefully I'll avoid all that crap w/ this one...

So with those frags do you "attach" them to a rock, or do you just set them on their disks somewhere in the tank?

Well, most of them are mounted on something. If they aren't, I just sugerglue them to small rocks.

Right now, most of them I just stuck in the sand.

This is my blastos, which is on a frag plug, and my xenia which is on a small rock:

Here's 2 different rocks with 3 different kinds of zoos, a small kenya tree mounted to a shell (which is a little compacted because I pulled algae off of it right before i took the pic)
, and some kind of lil green shroomy I superglued to a little tiny rock:

Here's one more kind of zoo glued to some little weird piece of rock i found in my live sand and a frogspawn head i broke off of a bigger, dead piece and stuck in the sand:

Here's my anemone, still looking a little pathetic, but still better than it's looked in about a month:

Very cool.. I want to get corals and am trying to figure out exactly what I want.. Thanks for the info

My method is to get as much for as cheaply as possible, see what does good in my tank, and then get stuff like that in colors/shapes I like. ;)
