29gal fish options?

In my wife 29gal tank we have :
6 Danio Zebra
3 Green Cory's
3 upside down cats

She wants to add "center piece fish"

1)How close is the tank to max bio load already?
2) What would be a good "center piece fish" to go along with current fish?

The Synos put it pretty close, but you need to take a few other things into consideration prior to adding centerpiece fish.

1.) Your green cories (Brochis splendens) really tend to do best in schools of 6-10. This will put a hurtin' on your filtration load, but I think that that is manageable.

2.) ZDs are pretty quick little fish and may anger a slower-moving, centerpiece style of fish.

However, I think that a little extra filtration would make the addition of green cories and a Paradisefish very feasible. The only question is if the Synos will pick on the Paradisefish or vice versa, and that I cannot answer, but I hope that the rest of this is helpful.

My UDC are very shy, and tend to hide during lighted hours. I see them cruising around first thing in thed morning, before the lights hit the tank. I don't think they'll cause any problems.

Green cories tend to get a bit larger than many other species, so they contribute quite a bit to capacity. I would add 2 more, just for the improved social behavior.

A single dwarf cichlid, like an apisto would be a great addition. It would be compatible with all your current occupants, and be a colorful choice.

What filtration do you have, and what's your maintenance routine? A planted tank has a different bio-load than an unplanted tank, and a aggressively filtered and maintained tank.

Thanks for the replys, I run a whisper 10-40 hob with poly fill.
I change the poly fill every week, and do a 10 or 15gal water change every other week. During water change I lightly vaccum half the tank and wipe the inside glass down. Nitrate reading taking before each water change usually 20ppm or less. No real plants in the tank.

I agree I run 4 29s and have ram pairs in all tanks bolivions and blues I personaly like the bolivions best
A shool 3-4 of congo tetras would handle the action congos seem to better than most tetras in fewer numbers they also get very big (4") with age for a tetra anyway.
BTW bolivions will never hurt anyone and are very tough they also get a perfect 3.5" adult.
