2nd thoughts about canopy and stand *PICS* - need advice!

I am having 2nd thoughts about the stain on the stand and canopy. I am thinking this would look better just painted flat black. What do you think?

looks great right now, but its all up to you, if you dont like it and want to change it, by all means do it lol. but imo it looks good!

Here are some more pics of a test piece I spray painted flat black. Dry to the touch in 20 minutes too! The **** stain takes 6 hours! I am really liking the black. I am 90% sure I will be painting this black tomorrow.

Go with the black. You did a great job on the build. I think the black would show it off more..

Thanks! Plus that edge that I didn't sand very well has always bothered me. I can take the opportunity to run the dual action sander over it and fix it. And I also want to put a little round-over on the edges with a router to soften it a bit.

Ya, I prefer black over cherry too. Never have been a fan of dark-colored stains, but black is a classic.

I think it also depends on the room it's going in. The red has a nice rustic look to it that might fit well with a room of the same kind of style to it.

The black would definately look cool as well.

I like the black, but must respect Greech's comment about it working in a particular room. If not tied to the room's existing decor, I would go with the black.

Black for me as well, although I'd go with more of a glossy black (or at least satin) but that's just a personal preference!
