Hello

Is 3-4G big enough for 2-3 Tropical Frogs? The tank will only be a 3rd full and it will be half land halve water this ok?

Thnx Flag

What do you mean by 'tropical frogs'?

A 3-4g is fine for 4-5 ADFs, a single firebelly toad, 4-5floating frogs or maybe a single poison arrow frog. This assumes standard tank proportions. For ADFs and floating frogs, land is not necessary - just have some plants at the surface. For poison frogs, water should only be in a small dish.

What do they look like, and what sort of 'environment' were they kept in?

They could be anything. If theyw ere in the water, they were probably ADFs, or African clawed frogs (which get to about 5inches and really need a 15gal tank). But then they may be bronze firebellies, some sort of treefrog, floating frogs...can you give any more info? Or post a picture of one? do some research and see if you can find out what it is - check out pollywog.co.uk for a list of various common frog species and care sheets. Let me know what they are...

firebellies! i used to have one back in the day *reminisces* they go in and out of the water all the time. like momar said you could prob. house one in there. if you get a 10g you could get about 4-5 of them. i believe 4 though...

A 3-4g is fine for a Chinese firebelly newt (cynops orientalis). They are commonly available. Make sure it's not a japanese firebelly (C. phyrrogaster), as this would get too big. They are mainly aquatic, but do need a small land area - I have 2 in an 8gal with some white clouds, and they spend most of the time in the water but will come out to bask.

You could go for a firebelly toad... but ideally I'd get a 10gal as they like company (a standard 10gal is good for 5 or 6, and you can scale this down depending how many you want. I have 4 in an 8gal, but I'd still only go for one in a 3-4gal as such small tanks tend to be disproportionately high) remember, with frogs and newts surface area is much more important than volume.
