So, finally the time is getting close til I go and pick up my new 55g Complete Set Up from a local guy on Monday. I'm so excited, I can't wait to get it home and set up.

But, yes there's a but. But, I'm still stumped as what I want to stock it with. I am for sure putting my 3 FireMouths in it, but I would like to get another pair of something for the 55g, and no, I'm not putting my pair of Convicts in it. I want a pair of something else, I was thinking a pair of Jack Dempseys, but yeah this ain't not pool party over here, it's a 55g tank. So that won't work. Then I thought maybe a Male Green Terror for my Female, yet again they get just as big as JD's so that's out the window also. No, I can't put any small dithers or schools of small fish, because my FireMouths, and Green Terror have been raised to attack smaller fish.

So please any suggestions, it must be another pair of sa/ca cichlids.

I like the Rainbow Cichlid idea, I just looked them up and they are beautiful fish that stay on the smaller side. Sounds good to me.

Now with that out the way, I just got a call from another guy who said he'll sell me his 55g for $25, all it needs is a stand and some filters. So I think I may buy this tank too, and get a stand for it. Then I can house maybe a pair of Jack Dempsey's in the tank alone with some small dithers.

She'll kill the danios. she tried to kill my baby cons when they were in the bag so i could set up their tank. im actually getting rid of my green terror, i found a guy who wants her for his male, and will pay me $50 for her

interesting.

if you can find a proven breeding pair of JDs, they could work in the 55.

the only problem though im seeing is that you are already going to have fry coming from the firemouth and rainbow cichlid pairs, and unless you keep the 40 gallon running your going to have nowhere to put them. then add a breeding pair of JDs, and your going to have a problem with so many fry.

I got a guy at a LFS who i give my fry to and he sells them and gives me free pellet food for my cichlids, so it helps when it comes down to the fry problem. kinda like you do this for me and ill do this for you ya know.

it saves him money by doing this, then he doesnt have to order somany baby fish, and i dont have to pay the high prices for pellets to feed my cichlids.
