Im just curious what you guys would recommend for a powerhead for this 3 gallon pico reef. Or will the filter be enough movement? I plan on keeping just some shrooms and zoas in it. And some sexy shrimp probably.
I used to keep a 2.5 gallon pico and I used an Aquaclear mini filter. It worked out great, plenty of flow for the tank, and has a bigger chamber than the filter that is pictured so you can stuff it full of LR rubble. I didn't use a powerhead and had no issues without one. Just thought I'd throw that out there, but I have no direct experience with the filter that's included so I really can't tell you how it would stack up against the AC. Good luck with the tank and I'd love to see a tank journal.
Did you see the link in the original post? I believe that is the tank that is pictured. If I remember correctly I saw it on another site about a month ago called that.
Also what do you think of THIS heater? I would get the 15watt one. I was looking at them at Petco today and they raise the ambient temp about 6 degrees. And my house is usually atleast 68 degrees. Just a thought because they are so thin and would be super easy to hide. Thanks.
Oh and the filter will be packed with rubble. And I will start a log. Heck I might make this it.
Well I got no answers from anyone. So I decided to build a 5.5 AIO Pic Reef. Its pretty sweet. Right now I have the silicon curing. Needs another 8 hours or so. Then Im gonna fill it with some LR and sand from my other tanks and get her going. I'll start a journal.
Im happy with it. Hopefully no cycle as everything was established already. Now Im just trying to find a happy medium with the power head as its blowing the sand around a bit. Then I will be good to go.
I personally wouldnt recommend a power head for that small of a tank. I would recommend a little bit larger filter that should give you enough flow to do the whole tank without adding a power head.
