I havent read the thread, but if you want some really good input, there are several people over on Loaches Online that have some pretty impressive Hillstream setups. And good info.

my camera battery just died, but I managed to snap a few pics that are illustrative of how much the perc's color can change when their in the breeding mood. this series shows the male orbiting his female, right before they disappeared into a new cave he must have dug over the last few days. The male has been in hiding since last thursday, after an initial bout of high coloration and violent dancing.

The first pic I was like, "Naaa". The third pic I was like, "WOW". He is stunning. When you have your batteries recharged, how about a new full tank shot. Come on you know you want to.
