30" long ... thinking of fish

I'm upgrading from a 24" to a 30" in my smaller areas of interest. I've got a breeding pair of kribs and 4 dithers that don't do much. I'm going to get a new setup, completly. Inc filter, gravel etc. Everything is going to be good with cycle issues etc. but I want to know if there is perhaps a cichlid that I can add perhaps a aspitos. I was thinking of some of those Golden Dwarfs, Rams or Cockatoo's that funsize has (exclude the cockatoo). Or maybe there is something else that would go well or ok inside?.

fill us in with the info...keep them pouring in..

Yes, dwarf cichlids (in general) do very well in a 20 "long" tank. I will suggest doing a live planted tank for Apistos and Rams, though! Do plenty of research on the specific fish you want BEFORE you get ANY other fish! Evolve your tank around that central theme, and things will go smoothly.:)
 
I agree. A planted tank would be nice with the dwarves. I just got my first planted tank going and it really isn't that hard. Again I agree that a 20 long is a great tank.

Well I'm thinking of adding a few fish but I'm going with the golden dwarfs at the moment.

gonna search up about cupids and the previously mentioned fish..who knows might change.

so far these are whats going into it.

2 breeding kribs
2 zebra danio's
2 pristella's
1 golden mystery snail
1 algea eater

^ these are my current fish. what I'm thinking about putting in there also with them is:

2 golden dwarfs
2 other dwarfs...possibly rams.

would this all go well together? without any conflicts in space?

I'm putting in wisteria and a longer growing plant with 2 shrub type plants.

hows this setup?
 
I would take out the dithers. If they are there just for dithering. You also can replace the algae-eater with an oto or two.

I agree that a live plant set up is great for rams. Go with plants that do not need special co2 or extra lighting. :0
 
I have my 2 Golden eye cichlids and blure rams and kribs in a 90gal 48"x18"x24" and they are doen great sofar i only have one real plant and they have not touched it but they love swiming around it chasing each other thier is also a few other fish in there like Plecos bristel noses black widows and tiger barbs one tiger barb was killed but yeah he was only in there cause i wanted something that the others could chase and so there is 3 tigers left

the moral of the story is that black widows kill tiger barbs also there is a few corys in there and a Sword tail tanks looks really bare cause it is so big and there is hardly any fish

dude i recon u should get 2 Apistogramma cacatuoides (red or yellow that is up 2 u but the yellows are cheaper at pet city)
i am goen there friday to pick up my male and female so i can pick u up a pair if u want the yellow ones are $9 and red are $15 no idea why there is such a price diffrence:confused:

Also what is an OTO ?????????

set it up today...looking sweet....I've added a paradise fish that was in my 5gal and he loves it and I don't think I want to take him out.

take out the dithers....not a problem, they were only there to draw attension from the kribs while they were breeding. but I'm gonna get some fish and plants etc.

So now the tank is going to look like:

2 kribensis
2 bristlenoses
1 paradise fish
2 golden dwarf cichlids
2 cockatoo cichlids

I'm going to get rid of 2 zebra danio's, 2 pristellas and the algea eater.

I think bristlenose's are better than Otto's but bristlenoses produce more waste I guess.

Pretty much an otto is like one of those chinese algea eaters. They look the same...standing to be corrected here.

yeah I want a few of those Apistogramma cacatuoides, grab us some and swing by and drop them off. Give us a buzz before hand. so it was $9 for pair? or each?
