30g Sw progress thread...

was your live rock completly cured when you bought it? if not then this may still have decaying particles on there which may cause problems?

p.s - i set up my tank 5 weeks ago using a fully cycled filter and lots and lots of fully cured live rock and i have only just added my snails after 5 weeks - you have to be very patient - which i thought i wasnt but suppose i am - lol
 
sounds like it as soon as you do a WC the nitrates should go down. I am 17 to but i decided SW is too complex for me so right now i am setting up a 20 gallon long for FW tropical. Good luck with your upcoming fish and tank
 
Salt water isnt that bad. I like how much there is to seting it up. Im a bio freak and all that so i really enjoy the challenge and diversity of it. Its like having a mini ocean in your house! lol.

SW is just about keeping it really stable. The ocean is a big stable enviornment, where lots of FW fish will go though alot of changes.

Salt really isnt alot harded that FW, ive had them both, just more dedication, and patience, but it will be worth it in the end.
 
ill get a SW tank in the next 2 years you can count on that lol. I do like that you have so many things in one tank there isnt just fish to watch.
 
Are your nitrates moving at all? or have they been stuck at this reading for a good few days now?

I would say that patience is your key here. The nitrates will come down. I check back on the thread, and only a week ago, they were 20, so, they still have been rising...They should be starting to fall very soon i would imagine with the levels that are now showing. When they come down to around 10 or less and stay that way, then its time for a good 50% water change to replenish trace elements..

Just an opinion of course..

been like this for days now

only thing moving is nitrates from 20-40 range, never over, never under.

The dog is way cool, too. What color are his (or her) eyes? Normally a flash kicks back red eye, doesn't it?
