33g Stocking

I just got 4 spotted corys and 1 pleco (this is one of the larger species so I'm gonna take it back and get a smaller species)

so any suggestions on what else I might be able to add in the future?

I think that you will like the cory cats, I have some in both of my tanks. Ottos are great. Pleco DEFINITELY needs to go back (especially if it is a common-which is what you see in most lfs) Most plecos available tend to produce a lot of waste and will SEVERELY limit you as far as stocking goes. Ottos are excellent for the community aquarium- they can be very amusing to watch and are excellent little algae eaters. I don't know how old your tank is, but you probably don't want to put ottos in until it is completely cycled, and prefferably have some algae for them to eat (or you can supply them with fresh veggies). I've always thought that corys and ottos are an excellent bottom feeder combination. Corys are excellent little scavengers and ottos are very efficient at cleaning the glass. and both are cute and fun to watch!!

ok thanks for the suggestions and help...so this is my stocking scheme:

6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
4 spotted corys
2-3 otos (to be added when a little more algae builds up)

do I have room for any more fish? I was thinking maybe 2 Dwarf Gouramis or my male betta or maybe another schooling fish, if I have room that is. What do you guys think, any other suggestions are welcomed?

I wouldn't go with Gourami's or bettas if you can avoid it because they often tend to be aggressive. A pair of Rams would most likely work though, or perhaps a school of small tetras. There are alot of different kinds, many of which are very beautiful.

ok I'm thinking about adding 2 Bolivian Rams or possibly an angelfish instead of the Betta as a centerpiece. Or perhaps a large school of cardinal tetras.

what do you guys think?

Drawf gouramies and bettas are for the most part are almost never aggressive, but, they, along with angels and rams, would be a very poor selection for a tank with ranbows, becuase of the activity level of ranbows, and will most likely have trouble feeding. Most tetras (and other similar fish) will be scared into hiding, so they make poor tankmates for ranbows as well. Yor best bet would be to go with 2-3 more rainbows, and 1-2 more corys, and then your done, and you won't have any incompatibility issues.

I just got my 33 gallon set up and running tonight. Gonna let it cycle first but... I was thinking about adding a school of neons, glow lites and maybe some cardinals if I can find them. Since they stay small I can have a good school of them. I don't want too many though, because I know I'll need some room for the guppy overflow that will probably happen.

ok..bought 2 Bolivian Rams and 3 zebra loaches (to clean up a snail problem in my 33g)--both are in my 10g quarantine at the moment
I moved my Betta to my 33g while the others were in quarantine--he seems to have no problems with the rainbows (they aren't too active)

current stocking:
-6 Rainbow praecox
-4 spotted cory
-3 zebra loaches
-2 Bolivian rams

how does that look, am I pretty much done? do i have too much in the bottom strata (because I can move something to my 10g when I'm done stocking)
do I have room for anything else or add to my current stock of existing fish? (not sure if I should keep the Betta there or perhaps move him back to the 10g)

I really like cardinals but perhaps they would be better for my 10g
Thank you everyone for the suggestions and advice

I'd go with the RAMS...

I love em...

I do NOT like Betas, and I'm not big on angle fish... so for me it's a no brainer.
