Why spend the money on a smaller tank just to upgrade to a 75 later?

true, and might I suggest getting the 90g over the 75.

you get a larger volume and nicer looking tank, while only spending a few extra dollars on the tank alone. foot print is the same.

all the equipment for a 75 and a 90g are the same...

so its well worth it to go with a 90 over the 75.

knowing you have to go bigger its just a waste to buy a smaller tank and then turn around in a few months and buy another

well to me its worth it cause then ill have a 20 gallon a 40 gallon PLUS a 75 gallon then wen i get the 75 gallon ill beable to use the 40b and 20 for sumtin else.. and i wont beable to get the 75 tell next nov so im hoping he'll do good in a 40 breede tell then

hmmm..might want to take the fish in occupancy into the formula vice a numerical calculation of tanks on hand...but I have seen a lot of stunted Oscars in 30 yrs...

Oscars grow about an inch a month. You would be best holding off until you have the proper sized tank IMO.
But if I had to choose,I would get the 40 breeder.
