Hrm.

My 36 gallon tank seems to be very busy and I wonder if I've gone over board here. I currently have:

5 Boesemani rainbows (they're sub-adults and about 2.5" on average)
2 Platies
7 corycats
1 Glolite tetra
2 Neon tetra
5 Ghost shrimp

Huh, now that I list them it doesn't seem all that much. The corycats are VERY active. All 7 of them are riding the bubble wand at the back of the tank and in constant motion.

I have a lot of mid-tank activity right now. Cories may be bottom dwellers, but give them a bubble ride and they stay in mid tank

I added three of those corycats yesterday and tested the water today. Everything a-okay at 0, 0, 5.

I want to add to this tank:
2 Clown Loaches
2 Royal Falowella Cats

I have the two clown loaches in quarrantine (going on 10 days) and I will be putting them in the tank in a couple of days. I know they need a bigger tank and I have one slated to arrive in April -- either a 65 gallon long or a 90 gallon long. Depends on how much play money hubby gives me from his yearly bonus. I'm hoping enough to get the 90 and a stand and canopy.

Thoughts on the Royal Farowella cats? Overkill?

Hold off on the farowellas until you get the 65/90, your quite stocked now (becuase the clown loaches are going in).

When you do get the 65/90, I suggest you move the loaches (of course) and rainbows into the 90, and increase the rainbows school size to 10 (more for the larger tank, as well a anything else from the current tank you want in there, except the neons, as well as the farowellas if you still want them. Post the planned stocking list here for aproval, just to make sure you don't over do it.

Then, in the 29 increase the neon school size to 10-15, find some other fish you like, then post a stocking list (including the neons) you would like for a aproval, or post a list of the fish you like so we can tell you what and how many you can have.

The reason for keeping the neons and rainbows seperated is,one species of schooling fish looks best IMHO, and, acording to roan, ranbows (I think it was boosemani specifically) will scare neons into hiding, wich I doubt is something you want.

I also suggest you do a fishless cycle on the new tank before adding fish. And, please post all the questions I asked you to post in one thread, for organizational and space saving porposes. That should be quite easy considering the fact that all the changes should happen at once.

Once you get another tank, you also really wanna get some more of each of the tetras so they have schools of 6+.. they are both pretty small so would work in either tank (as long as you move some fish to another tank), but they would really be happiest in schools.
